Shippee is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers, an organization of appraisal professionals, the oldest appraisal organization with headquarters in the Washington, D.C., area. She meets the Uniform Standards of Appraisal Practice biennial exam requirements.
A dealer and consultant in fine art for many years, she brings expertise in the field of fine art through her studies in art history, personal art collecting, museum, lecture and auction attendance, as well as a gallery owner, curator and art consultant in New York City and Connecticut. She created and managed an original printmaking studio, where artists created original prints. She received her B.A. degree (magna cum laude) in Art History at Fordham University at Lincoln Center in New York City. She has curated art exhibitions for museums, galleries and art associations and has written and published numerous artist and exhibition catalogues and articles. She hosted a television series of artist interviews and has served as a juror of art exhibitions.
Mrs. Shippee regularly attends and participates in professional fine arts appraisal seminars, workshops, conferences, and academic personal property conferences. She works with a network of other experienced appraisers, specialists and consultants with whom she is able to confer for particular expertise.
She has served as Secretary of the Connecticut Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers and as a Trustee of several arts organizations, and is a member of many museums, historical societies and research organizations, including Archives of American Art, American Alliance of Museums, Appraisers Alliance of New England, Art Table, International Foundation for Art Research, and Catalogue Raisonné Scholars Association, et al.
